Sunshine Coast · Maroochydore
Functional training gym on the Sunshine Coast.
Training that makes the rest of your life easier. Not a machine circuit, not a class you survive — a coached programme built on four pillars that add up to real, usable capability.
The four pillars
Strong for actual life.
"Functional" gets used to sell everything from vibrating platforms to bootcamps, so here's what we mean by it: training the patterns your body uses outside the gym — squatting, hinging, pushing, pulling, carrying, running — and loading them enough that they get stronger. If a movement doesn't transfer to something you do off the gym floor, it doesn't earn a place in the programme.
Our four-pillar system runs strength, conditioning, skill and recovery together rather than in isolation. A commercial gym gives you a card, a row of machines and no plan; most bootcamps give you a sweat and no progression. Coach-led functional training gives you both — a written 12-week block that builds, and a coach on the floor correcting your third rep before it becomes a habit.
That coaching is the difference people notice first. Classes are capped at 20, every session is scaled to the person doing it, and your coach knows your history — the shoulder, the C-section, the desk job, the race you've entered. Progress gets tested at the end of each block, so improvement is something you can point at rather than hope for.
Movida sits at Newspaper Place, Maroochydore, a short drive from Mooloolaba, Buderim, Kawana, Kuluin and Sippy Downs. The same membership gives you CrossFit, HYROX, Olympic Lifting, Gymnastics and Open Gym — one gym instead of four.

Strength
Squat, hinge, push, pull, carry. Loaded properly and progressed in blocks, so lifting a toddler, a surfboard or a wheelbarrow stops being an event.
Conditioning
An engine you can use — walking up Buderim without gasping, making it through a shift, keeping up on a beach run. Dosed, measured, not just punishing.
Skill
Coordination, balance and body control. Gymnastics and barbell work teach your body to do what you ask it to, which is what keeps training interesting for years.
Recovery & mindset
Mobility, sleep, nutrition and the habit of turning up. The pillar most gyms ignore and the one that decides whether the other three stick.
Who trains here
Everyone starts somewhere.
Beginners
Most new members haven't trained in years — or ever. You start with a movement assessment, not a bootcamp. Nothing is done to you; everything is coached.
Parents
Mid-morning 9:15 classes exist for a reason. Sixty minutes, done, back to the day — and the strength to carry kids, prams and shopping without a sore back.
Athletes & ex-athletes
Surf, football, triathlon, touch. Functional training fills the strength and durability gap that sport alone doesn't build.
Desk workers
Hips and shoulders that have been sitting since 8am need positions, not just cardio. We coach mobility as part of the session, not as homework you'll never do.
The easiest way in is the 2-week intro block ($64), which includes a personal training session and unlimited classes. After that, pick a plan on memberships.
